Welcome to the Great Northeastern Pacific South
and Western Railroad Company (The Weed Route)
Official Website.  At the moment, there is nothing
on the site. 

Within a month we hope to post a photo essay of
the first major Weed Route speeder trip on the
abandoned Milwaukee Road from Miles City,
Montana to Cedar Falls Washington.  We made
the trip in August 1980, just after the demise
of the “Pacific Extension” which was the largest
single railroad abandonment in American history.

Eventually, the site will provide links to related
articles and photos, as well as a blog for comments
and recollections.  We hope that historians,
interested parties, and old-time railroaders will
participate in making this site a special resource
on the wholesale abandonment of American
railroad lines in the 20^th Century.

Other trips will be added, from the Weed Route
Archives as time permits.   We hope this website
will eventually become a major resource for the documentation of abandoned American railroad
lines and the towns they left behind.
